Sales Leadership - The Haiku Way

At one of the leadership workshop, I met an interesting gentleman with a deep interest in Japanese poetry – the Haiku. He had an impressive collection of Haiku poems and shared them throughout the session.

This was my first real exposure to Haiku, and I found the poems profoundly meaningful. I was struck by their simplicity and frugality of their structure – so much conveyed in so few words. Others were equally captivated, and not only were the poems enjoyable, but they also help convey some critical lessons on leadership. One such lesson being - like a Haiku, leaders must keep their communication direct and impactful, using just a few well-chosen words.

Below, I’m sharing a few Haikus I noted down for your reading pleasure.

A goal is a seed,

Planted deep in your heart’s soil,

Let persistence bloom.

Rise with the sunrise,

Every step moves you closer,

Dreams are within reach.

One step, then the next,

Mountains seem tall, but they fall,

With courage, you climb.

Keep moving forward,

Even through the stormy skies,

Sunshine follows rain.

Chase the morning light,

Let fear melt in the sunrise,

The path is your own.

Silent strength within,

Each challenge is an echo,

Of power yet known.

New day, new chances,

The past is just lessons learned,

The future is yours.

Through the dark you’ll soar,

Your wings built from every fall,

Embrace your own light.

When you lose your way,

Find the courage to begin,

A journey reborn.

Let your spirit rise,

Storms may come, but you stand firm,

Victory awaits.

Sometimes the simplest, is most meaningful. Wouldn’t you agree?
